木语の合作 | Collaboration Series I

August 2019 - Our first collaboration series to celebrate Singapore Bicentennial and our focus is on C-R-A-F-T. Not just ours, but with local crafters who believed in the slow made movement. Using our upcycled wood planks, we want to portray their language of craft in it. And the best way to showcase - making them into limited edition pairs of jewelry!
Working closely with our friend, Stacy from Doraecyscraps, we experiment with different types of marbling techniques and test it various times before we get the final results that we want!
Here is the Bloom collection and what it represents for Stacy as a crafter in Singapore.

(WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND THIS COLLABORATION DESIGNER PIECE?)

Singapore is my home. I am proud to be a Singaporean and thankful for our ancestors' hard work that had left us with a path of success, peace and vibrancy.

In this artwork, I chose these colors - Red, Yellow and Turquoise - for they represent Unity, Vibrancy and Gratitude & Peace to me. The twirls were made with the intention to combine both reds and yellows which reminds me of the fireworks that I look forward to during the National Day Parade.

I kept the designs as minimalist as possible to show the beautiful wood grains found in this upcycled wood plank.

This artwork also signifies what I feel about being a proud Singaporean and I wish for everyone to  stay united, not forget our roots and to embrace gratitude while looking forward to our future with vibrancy!
